Diwali Festival Specificity :- (దీపావళి పండుగ విశిష్టత మీకోసం)
Diwali is a week-long celebration of colours and lights. Starting with Dhanteras and followed by Naraka Chaturdasi/Kali Chaudas, Diwali falls on the third day of this festive week. Vishvakarma Puja/ Gudi Padwa/ Govardhan Puja mark the beginning of Kartika Masa, which falls on the fourth day just a day after Diwali. With Diwali just round the corner, let's have a look at why this day is celebrated and how.
Vishvakarma symbolizes 'maker of all' and is considered as one of the well known Gods of the Hindu pantheon. According to the Hindu mythology, the name Vishvakarma was ascribed to Brahma in the earliest days of Hinduism. In fact, it's often said that the Universe took birth from Vishvakarma's navel. He is said to have built heaven (Swarga), the Lanka (now Sri Lanka), which was later ruled by Ravan and also Dwarka, where Lord Krishna have been said to take birth.

As per the puranas, which came in the later stage of Hinduism, Vishvakarma is considered as the divine architect. He is, thus, worshipped by all the engineers, architects and artisans in the name of their craft. Every factory in India without exception has a photo/idol of Vishvakarma as it is worshipped by all the mechanics, welders to have his grace for good functioning of their tools and machinery.
Celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm, this day is primarily observed in offices, shops and factories. The office or factory premises are decorated beautifully with flowers and lights just the way our homes are. The machines are washed and maintained beforehand and friends and family are also invited for the Puja. The idol of Lord Vishvakarma along with his loyal elephant is also decorated with immense faith and love. You can even arrange a priest for celebrating the rituals properly.
'Prasad' is distributed after the puja and everyone pray for the prosperity of their family and work. Annual bonuses are given to the employees and feast is prepared, which are enjoyed together by everyone. Pandals are set up in cities, where holy mantras are chanted and the prasad distributed.
